Vocal jazz with classical orchestrations, there have been many strings for about sixty years. It is a romantic record, dressed up to seduce, where Charlie Parker elegantly converses with a cellist or an oboist, while behind them the string section swoons and shivers. Very prominent in the mix, Parker's saxophone gives the impression of watching a film with a close-up and a backdrop. A good film.
