Widor : Intégrale de l’Œuvre pour Orgue

Description

Charles-Marie Widor was born at the organ. Raised in a family of organ builders, he showed an early talent for the instrument and would later embody all its power and splendor. His life is closely linked to that of the great French organ builder Aristide Cavaillé-Coll. This new complete edition of the works for organ brings together eight years of recordings, captured across France with Cavaillé-Coll period instruments. Performed by Joseph Nolan, this cycle celebrates his visits to St Sernin in Toulouse, Saint-François-de-Sales in Lyon, and La Madeleine in Paris. "The combination of virtuosity, technique, and intensity of Joseph Nolan makes his playing the current reference for recordings of C-M. Widor's symphonies" - Gramophone
