Since his debut with the track 'Darling Darling Darling', immediately recognized by the media as well as by lovers of electronic music, Louis Warynski has continued to evolve a world that belongs solely to him over the course of a decade and eight albums. - Like the universe of Lewis Carroll, Chapelier Fou's music is multiple, simple and complex, serious and light, classical and modern. Louis Warynski's work is woven on classical foundations, but it is constantly unsettled by subtle arrangements and electronic rhythms, thus leading the tracks outside of any convention. - - In Chapelier Fou, we find the playful spirit typical of French composers like Erik Satie, François de Roubaix, or Robert Cohen Solal, who do not hesitate to blend pop format with concrete music, as well as this remarkable ability to make serious what is not, and vice versa, of course. His music, very comfortable on screen as well as on stage, has everything that characterizes great composers: seemingly accessible and adaptable in all forms. - - This is how Chapelier Fou has performed solo on stage, juggling between violin, guitar, keyboards, and pedals, in trio, quartet, and even in orchestral formation with the Orchestre National de Metz. Often described as 'Chamber Electronic Music', it was therefore quite expected that one day, Chapelier Fou would offer us a version of his music without a single electronic or electrified part. - - This has now been accomplished with this Ensemb7e that performed on the stage of L'Arsenal de Metz, broadcast by Arte Concert. Chapelier Fou Ensemb7e has directly gained the support of a wide audience, as well as programmers from performance venues where the septet has been performing since June 2021. Ensemb7e features a septet primarily of woodwinds: violin, viola, cello, piano, clarinet, and drums accompany the multi-instrumentalist composer. - - It is difficult, to say the least, to resist such musical enthusiasm! The magic happens immediately as the reinterpretation of these little pop gems gives a dimension that is both touching and flourishing to the work of Chapelier Fou: even dreamier versions, sometimes more mischievous, but the richness of the classical instruments and the evident pleasure of the musicians in performing them breathe new life into all these tracks that have so amazed us. - - It therefore seemed obvious to us upon listening to the concerts of the Ensemb7e that there was more than just a concert to record, but a true album to offer. A studio album, but with the energy and vitality of a live performance, created with the attention and generosity of Thomas Poli (who has collaborated with Dominique A, Yann Tiersen, and many others).
