Young and foolish is the title that Café Zimmermann has chosen for this program, which explores repertoires from the 1770s-1780s by Mozart and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, starting with the famous and sparkling Divertimento, KV 138 by Mozart. For this fascinating face-off between W.A. and C.P.E., Café Zimmermann has invited an exceptional musician: the fortepianist Alexander Melnikov. They perform Mozart's Concerto No. 17 in G major, K 453, which he considered in a letter to his father to be "sweaty" along with his concertos KV 450, 451, and 453! Melnikov reunites in duo with harpsichordist Céline Frisch, co-founder of the ensemble, to play the only concerto for piano, harpsichord, and orchestra ever composed, a work by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach full of verve and mischief.
