Following her two hugely successful albums (The Colour of My Love and D’eux), Céline outdid herself once again with one of her most daring albums to date: Falling Into You. This album was her fourth in English and quickly became a 90s classic. The first single, "Because You Loved Me," reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in just three weeks. This was the fastest ascent on the US charts for a Céline song. The epic title track that opens the album, "It's All Coming Back To Me Now," is often considered emblematic of her musical style. It quickly became a fan favorite and a staple of her live repertoire.
On this album, Céline also offers her own interpretations of Eric Carmen's "All By Myself" and "River Deep, Mountain High," a song created by Phil Spector for Tina Turner. These two tracks became pillars of Céline's concerts. The album includes three English adaptations from the French album D'eux: "I Don't Know," "If That's What It Takes," and "Fly."
For Falling Into You, Céline collaborated with the biggest producers of the time, including David Foster (Barbra Streisand, Billy Joel, Paul McCartney, Neil Diamond), Jim Steinman (Meatloaf, Bonnie Tyler, Sisters Of Mercy), Humberto Gatica (Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Robert Palmer) and Ric Wake (Taylor Dayne, Mariah Carey). Thanks to their immense talent and the magic of French songwriter Jean-Jacques Goldman, Falling Into You won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year and was certified Diamond in France and Canada, 12 times Platinum in Taiwan, South Africa and Australia, 11 times Platinum in the United States, 7 times Platinum in the United Kingdom, and multi-platinum in many other countries.
Falling Into You marked a major milestone in Céline's exceptional career and revealed the full extent of her vocal and interpretive abilities.
