Cecilia Bartoli presents her new album "Farinelli". Through a selection of baroque arias, one of the greatest voices of the early 21st century retraces the life of the most famous castrato, Farinelli. Here, the singer explores the question of gender in baroque opera roles and sheds light on this phenomenon of the castrati who brought fame to many works of the era. To illustrate the singer’s career, Cecilia Bartoli has chosen standout arias from works by his brother Riccardo Broschi, his mentor Nicola Porpora, as well as Hasse, Caldara and Giacomelli. Two arias are recorded here for the first time worldwide: "Lontan...
