"Oh Snap" brings together twelve very personal songs by Cécile McLorin Salvant, as well as a verse from the Commodores' 1977 hit "Brick House." Mostly recorded outside of a traditional studio setting, these short, intimate tracks were composed with a focus on spontaneity and joy. Initially recorded alone at home with digital tools like GarageBand, Logic, AutoTune, MIDI plugins, drum loops, vocal effects, reverb, and filters, they reflect her varied influences—from boy bands to grunge, classical, and folk. The album features celebratory tracks, samba grooves, and peaceful folk ballads, alongside Sullivan Fortner, Yasushi Nakamura, Kyle Poole, June McDoom, and Kate Davis.
