Listening to the Italian composer and modular synthesizer virtuoso gives the impression of traveling both at the speed of light and in slow motion since the revolutionary double album of 2017, Patterns Of Consciousness. The famous Ecstatic Computation from 2019 went even further. Barbieri now delivers a journey through an inner space as vast as a universe and as intimate as a heartbeat.
While previous releases were built on long tours, capturing only snapshots of constantly evolving works, Spirit Exit represents the first album by the producer entirely written and recorded in her home studio amid the lockdown in Milan in 2020.
It was during this prolonged isolation that she found inspiration from women philosophers, mystics, and poets spread across time, yet united in their strength to cultivate vast internal worlds.
