At the end of their CM2 year, Eli Edwards receives 20 dollars from his mother and goes to find a friend after a victory of his soccer team. He then meets Xayvien Young, the only other Black child on the field in Spanaway (Washington), and an immediate friendship is formed. Their self-titled debut album, released on Carpark Records, blends hip-hop, hardcore, emo, and nü metal without genre boundaries. The tracks address social and personal themes, such as poverty, institutional violence, or the difficulties of daily life. Each member writes from their own experience: Eli from isolation in Los Angeles and Xay facing precariousness in Spanaway. The album is not a classic coming-of-age story, but a raw immersion into their personal and musical evolution. With its 10 intense tracks, Casi captures pain, friendship, and creation as an ongoing process.
