Occam Ocean Volume 4

OCCAM OCEAN 4, co-produced by the label shiiin and ZKM, Hertz-Lab, is an exceptional project resulting from the collaboration of Eliane Radigue, a French composer and pioneer in the exclusive use of continuous sounds, and three musicians: Bertrand Gauguet on alto saxophone, Yannick Guédon on voice and "dessus de viole," and Carol Robinson on birbyne and bass clarinet. Composed in Paris in 2018 and 2019, the three pieces on this record (For alto saxophone, voice/dessus de viole, birbyne - For solo baritone - For alto saxophone and bass clarinet) were recorded in March 2021 at the Kubus of ZKM in Karlsruhe during an artist residency, to which the three musicians were invited to participate as part of the "EASTN-DC" project, co-funded by the European Union's "Creative Europe" funding program. The record is released on the Shiiin label, accompanied by a beautiful 66-page booklet published in French and German.
