Ex-drummer of Pond and bassist of Tame Impala, songwriter Cameron Avery releases a stunning debut album and is set to be one of the revelations of 2017. Cameron Avery is an Australian songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, now based in New York. As early as 2007, driven by Kevin Parker of Tame Impala, he launched his solo project, The Growl, and released an EP of aggressive psychedelic rock'n'roll. He was then recruited for other projects, sometimes as the drummer of the band POND, sometimes as the bassist of Tame Impala during their tour in 2013. Cameron continues to compose in his spare time, and when a break appears for Tame Impala, he settles in the United States to work on his project. He arrives with eight songs, gets rid of seven, and rewrites twelve. He records the album in Los Angeles and plays most of the instruments while surrounding himself with the genius musician Jonathan Wilson, the album's producer (and of Father John Misty), who encourages him to highlight his baritone voice, unlike the growling and masked singing of The Growl. His deep tone recalls Nick Cave, Scott Walker, or Tindersticks, and the transcendent first singles 'C'est Toi' and 'Wasted On Fidelity' evoke a certain Father John Misty...
