Aged 75, Calypso Rose from Trinidad is the queen of Calypso. This musical genre was made universal in the 50s (among others by Harry Belafonte) and was long the exclusive domain of men. Calypso Rose shattered conventions and codes from the early 70s. Over 800 songs composed, an incredible life filled with obstacles, an extraordinary tenacity, always phenomenal and festive on stage: the time has come for Calypso Rose to receive recognition for her work everywhere. "Far From Home," her new album, was produced by Ivan Duran. Manu Chao, who discovered the "myth" by chance during a trip, was captivated by this phenomenal woman and lends his guitar and voice to 3 tracks on the album.
