True North

Description

Calum Stewart is a composer of Scottish Celtic music, teacher, and musician (wooden flute and uilleann pipes), born in 1982 in Moray, Scotland.
He formed a regular duo with Breton guitarist Heikki Bourgault before playing under his own name with several musicians. He has also been part of the Scottish group Mànran and the Welsh group Jamie Smith' Mabon.
He has performed on occasions with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, and Nitin Sawhney
He was named Musician of the Year at the MG Alba Scots Trad Awards in December 2018
"True North" is the highly anticipated new album from uilleann piper and flutist Calum Stewart. Following "Tales from the North" (2017), "True North" is a powerful blend of traditional melodies and lyrical compositions, inspired by the landscape and heritage of the north of Calum's native Scotland.
On this album, Calum Stewart's musical voice is expressed through the wild and shimmering sound of the Irish Uilleann Pipes and the rich, powerful tones of the wooden flute, accompanied by the earthy resonance of the double bass (Yann Le Bozec) and the vibrant rhythm of the Cittern (Sylvain Quéré).
He is currently performing on stage in France as part of the "HERITAGE GOLDMAN" tour.
