Singer and songwriter Caloé presents a repertoire that leans towards folk jazz to appeal to the general public. An exceptional vocal technique worth highlighting! Three years after the release of “Saisons,” Caloé returns to songwriting and offers a second journey, still supported by her reliable trio composed of Philippe Maniez, Clément Simon, and Arthur Henn. Music with melodies that catch you, combining simplicity and technique, enhanced by the saxophone of Olga Amelchenko and the trumpet of Christian Altehülshorst. Caloé takes us on a journey alongside the character who will give his name to one of the tracks as well as the album: Le Voyageur. Caloé is a lyricist and composer, writing in both French and English. For the first time, she also writes a text in Spanish. This is the title “La Ultima Cita,” which pays tribute to the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo in Argentina, those mothers from whom the military dictatorship tore away their children between 1976 and 1983. A tough and inspiring subject to explore this language with pain and hope. However, Caloé is not the only author and composer; she is also joined by Xavier Trombini, co-composer and arranger, as well as Philippe Maniez, the band’s drummer, who also contributes to the arrangement of two of the tracks. One of the lyrics was also written by Helyett Bloch, the singer's mother, who had already penned three of the tracks on the first album. Making vocal improvisation a playground and one of her strengths, Caloé interprets the melodies she revisits and frequently resorts to “scat,” which she has worked on extensively like an instrumentalist. Her beautiful vocal technique allows her to use her voice freely and fully serve the music.
