Calibro 35 continues its journey into the world of cinematic jazz-disco-funk with the release of a new 45rpm single featuring two afro-disco storms. On side A, Calibro 35 offers a very afro-funk version of Piero Umiliani's classic Italo-cosmic-disco "Discomania," while on side B, the Milanese band delivers an equally explosive reinterpretation of Azymuth's Brazilian hit "Jazz Carnival." Both songs are taken from the highly anticipated new album Exploration. Described by Rolling Stone as "the most fascinating, retro-maniacal, and authentic thing to come out of Italy in recent years," the Milanese band Calibro 35 enjoys a worldwide reputation as one of the coolest independent bands of the moment. Active since 2007, they have been sampled by Dr. Dre on Compton, Jay-Z, The Child of Lov & Damon Albarn, and Demigodz. They have collaborated with, among others, PJ Harvey, Mike Patton, John Parish, Stewart Copeland, and Rokia Traoré.
