Like artists such as Scott Walker, Lee Hazlewood, Morrissey, and Pete Doherty, Caesar Spencer's inspiration quickly transcended the walls of his daily life, and his music could not have been born if he had stayed in just one country. An Englishman born in Peru, Caesar Spencer is also Swedish, but now resides in France. Wishing to draw from the music that illuminated his life across the Channel (The Kinks, Bowie, The Smiths), while infusing it with a certain French sensitivity and sophistication, he has mapped out a very ambitious debut album. Echoing his own journey, Get Out Into Yourself is a conceptual work. The album follows a character traveling through different cultural landscapes, telling a story filled with existential questions in a constantly changing world. It is therefore a record that transcends genres and borders at every turn. Oscillating between British pastoral pop and West Coast surf rock, along with provocative songs featuring French cinematic accents or cosmic crooner ballads from Bowie’s universe, every corner of Get Out Into Yourself is tinged with incandescent imagination and an international spirit. But the album is above all a heartfelt tribute to France, a nation that has reignited Caesar's creative spark. Recording the album gave him the opportunity to pay homage to this remarkable musical heritage, which has too often gone unnoticed. He chose to record with producer Gaétan Boudy (Zaz, Alex Renart, Emel Mathlouthi). In addition to Jacqueline Taïeb, the album features Jean Felzine and Jo Wedin. French punk icon Gilles Tandy (Les Olivensteins) also lends his talents. Mareva Galanter joins Caesar on the baroque pop track “When I Whisper In Your Ear.” Skillfully bridging British pop and French pop, Caesar Spencer delivers a treasure of songs of classic caliber and tailored elegance.
