The band is dedicated to the creation/destruction dichotomy, as well as to an aesthetic of American roots music and a punk attitude. After their self-titled debut album, recorded live and primarily performed on the street, The Builders and the Butchers entered the studio with Portland musician and producer Chris Funk to record the band's next collection of songs. An album titled Salvation is a Deep Dark Well. The spirit of the Builders has always been, and will always be, inclusion and collaboration. From their early street performances to distributing instruments in clubs, the early days were always about how many people would be "in the band" each night. The Builders brought this spirit of inclusion into the studio where they invited some of their favorite musicians and best friends to perform on Salvation is a Deep Dark Well.
