Description

The inspiration of Guillaume Connesson has thus been able to follow, over time and through works of great diversity, "the complex mosaic of the contemporary world," to use his own words. The 3 orchestral pieces of the Symphonic Trilogy each pay tribute to a country and a culture that are particularly dear to the composer. To the Germany filled with drama and joy of "Flammenschrift" responds the Italian light of "E chiaro nella valle il fiume appare," before the colorful and festive Russia of "Maslenitsa." To come to light, concerto for flute and orchestra, is the original name of the "Book of the Dead" of ancient Egypt. These papyrus scrolls were placed near the mummy to help it succeed in its journey to the afterlife and access the light of Osiris. It is this spiritual journey that the concerto evokes, a journey of shadow and light in the land of Amenti, the paradise of the ancient Egyptians.
