Extérieur-Jour

Description

After her surprising collaborations with Vincent Royer (for Mode Records), Jim O'Rourke, and Christoph Heemann (both for Oren Ambarchi's Black Truffle Records), composer Brunhild Ferrari returns to the forefront with this new solo album. Extérieur-jour includes two previously unreleased compositions. "Extérieur-jour" is a scenic indication, a piece of cinema for the ear. It was recorded at Luc Ferrari's Atelier Post Billig in 2014. "Le Piano Englouti," another electroacoustic composition created over a period of fourteen years between 1996 and 2010, also highlights cinematic elements with recordings in locations as diverse as a Greek island by the noisy Aegean Sea, a Pachinko parlor, and a quiet island in Japan. The album presents itself as a meditation on grief and the re-emergence of memory and silence. The cover artwork was created by the late Wolfgang Meyer Tormin, artist and composer, and also the father of Brunhild Ferrari.
