Underground

Description

"Underground" undoubtedly represents the peak of Serbian-Croatian composer Goran Bregovic’s career. Indeed, the musician had contributed several times to the success of Emir Kusturica’s films, but it is probably with this fine work that Bregovic’s musical language becomes cohesive, perhaps because the film itself strongly evoked Yugoslav identity and its decapitation. Two highlights in this music: the magnificent theme "Ausencia" performed by Cesaria Evora and the irresistible "Underground Tango". Highly inspired by traditional themes, Bregovic’s music moves through a broad spectrum of popular music, from Cape Verde to Bulgaria. It is superb.
