"In God We Trust" is the second album by the East Coast hip-hop group Brand Nubian. It was released on February 2, 1993, and celebrates its 30th anniversary. The main MC, Grand Puba, left the group to pursue a solo career in 1991, after the release of their acclaimed first album "One for All." DJ Alamo also left to work with Puba, leaving behind Sadat X and Lord Jamar, who recruited DJ Sincere to join the group. It was likely that "In God We Trust" would not attempt any new crossover jack swing or tie-dye imagery. Although the transformation is radical, it is compelling, with Lord Jamar and Sadat X showcasing some of the fiercest and most intense rhymes and lyrics of the time, extremely militant, reflecting the group's identity adhering to the philosophy of the Nation of Gods and Earths. The album produced two singles, "Punks Jump Up to Get Beat Down" and "Love Me or Leave Me Alone," both of which charted on the Billboard Hot 100.
