Known primarily as a smooth blue-eyed soul titan, Bobby Caldwell transcended genre labels with consummate ease; he was a musical icon of true class and versatility, beloved around the world. Tragically passing away in March 2023 at the all-too-young age of 71, there is still a sense that Bobby's true artistic talent is deeply underestimated. His self-titled double platinum album from 1978 is a timeless masterpiece of sophisticated jazzy soul brilliance and is strictly canonical. Yes, it’s perfect, and yet it hasn’t been pressed on vinyl for years. We are deeply honored to present the long-awaited reissue this summer. Bobby Caldwell's second album, Cat In The Hat, released in 1980, is one of his greatest moments and another masterpiece of soul sophistication. Featuring the timeless "Open Your Eyes," brilliantly sampled by J Dilla for Common's "The Light," it is as essential as records can be. Like its self-titled predecessor, it has been out of print for far too long. Finally releasing the long-awaited reissue is one of our most sincerely proud moments. From the outset, it’s easy to say that Cat In The Hat is a deeply special record. It is fantastically produced and incredibly complete, carving its own path with deep soul, warm jazz, and a stunning vocal performance that truly helped Bobby reach new audiences at the time.
