A the opening of the exhibition of the same name taking place in Nashville until the end of 2016, Legacy Recordings and the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville are proud to release this exceptional compilation! This double CD contains 36 pop, rock, and folk tracks recorded in Nashville or in collaboration with musicians from the Nashville Session, including tracks by Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Simon & Garfunkel, and many others. Also featured on this compilation is a previously unreleased version of "If Not For You" by Bob Dylan! A playlist will be posted online on May 11 with comments from Charlie Daniels of the Nashville Cats, and a concert is scheduled for this summer, on July 7, to celebrate the album's release. Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, The Byrds, Simon & Garfunkel, Neil Young, Paul McCartney were all part of the many rock and folk artists who traveled to Nashville in the late 60s and early 70s to record albums with the "Nashville Cats," multi-talented studio musicians. Bob Dylan recorded Blonde on Blonde, John Wesley Harding, and Nashville Skyline there, the Byrds Sweetheart of the Rodeo, and Neil Young Harvest. Bob Dylan's decision to record "Blonde On Blonde" in Nashville in 1966 drew many musicians from the counterculture and the establishment to this unlikely destination and led to a blending of genres. "Dylan, Cash, and the Nashville Cats: A New Music City" embodies the universal spirit of music that defies boundaries and categories by celebrating the connection between rock, pop, and country music. This period of musical exchange evolved the sound of Nashville away from traditional country and towards mainstream pop, rock, and folk influences.
