Adventures In Counter-Culture - Album 2Lp Bleu & Vert
Description
First trained in his church choir, Blueprint played in R&B bands in high school and later built a reputation as an outstanding rapper. On Adventures in Counter-Culture, he experimented with synths, keyboards, and drum machines that connected the musical dots of his early days. Print continued his musical career in 2001, working on several hip-hop projects, including his collaborative project Soul Position with DJ/producer RJD2. After releasing The Unlimited EP & 8,000,000 Stories on Rhymesayers Entertainment with RJ, Blueprint began working in 2004 on what would become his first solo album, 1988. The success of this album allowed him to tour extensively in North America and Europe, before returning home to focus on writing and recording his next album. When he set out to work on this second album, Print started with the dark, soulful, sample-heavy hip-hop of the early 90s, but he quickly hit a creative wall. To break free, he then set himself a new mission: to create an album that encompassed all facets of the music he knew, blurring the boundaries between genres and integrating them into a cohesive listening experience. The more he strove to combine his new interest in rock and electronic music with his love of hip-hop, the more he succeeded in breaking down this creative barrier. Thus began his adventures in counter-culture that gave the album its title, a monumental undertaking that would lead him to reinvent himself as a musician and as a person. His growing cynicism about the world, his disdain for pop culture, the state of politics, and an apathetic, uninspired society, all fueled the creation of this second album. Affected by the impact that sample-related lawsuits were having on the music community, Blueprint also decided to return to his roots and began writing and producing his own sounds. The album was released in 2011. For the album's tenth anniversary, this new edition includes a blue and purple vinyl in a selective varnish sleeve and includes a 24-page magazine as well as a download card.
