BLK ODYSSY is an artist and producer based in Austin, whose innovative sound blends soul, hip-hop, rock, funk, and pop. Born in Plainfield, New Jersey, and raised in a family steeped in neo-soul, BLK began expressing his voice through music after the unjust murder of his older brother by police at the age of 12. This tragedy, which turned his life upside down, and his experience as a young Black man in 21st-century America fuel his raw and complex narratives. His debut album, BLK VINTAGE (2021), written and produced with close collaborators, celebrated and questioned Black identity in the United States. Acclaimed by critics, it was reissued in 2022 by Empire under the title BLK VINTAGE: The Reprise, featuring collaborations with Mereba, Benny the Butcher, George Clinton, and Baby Rose. Since then, the project has amassed over 100 million streams and made BLK ODYSSY an essential figure in modern soul.His second album, DIAMONDS & FREAKS (2023), confirmed his meteoric rise, blending surrealism and social critique through collaborations with Rapsody, KIRBY, Bootsy Collins, Cory Henry, and production by The Alchemist.In 2024, after a surreal performance at the Tiny Desk Awards and appearances at festivals across Europe, BLK ODYSSY opened a bold new chapter with his third studio album, 1-800 FANTASY. The first single from the album, "WANT YOU" (co-produced by Tyler Johnson, known for his collaboration with Harry Styles), marked a turning point in his style. It was followed by "XXX" featuring Wiz Khalifa, and "STANK ROSE" featuring Joey Bada. With over one million weekly streams on average, BLK ODYSSY unveils his fourth project, MOOD CONTROL, a ten-track album that propels alt-R&B, soul, and funk to new heights.
