In celebration of their 2024 Wacken Open Air concert, BLIND GUARDIAN is proud to present "Somewhere Far Beyond Revisited," which includes a full re-recording of this classic as well as a LIVE celebration of the 1992 album "Somewhere Far Beyond," a landmark record for the German heavy metal titans. Blind Guardian is proud to present 'Somewhere Far Beyond (Revisited),' which includes a full re-recording of this classic as well as a live celebration of 1992's "Somewhere Far Beyond," a milestone in the music of the German heavy metal titans. Having found the right balance of speed, heaviness, melodies, drama, and irresistible choruses on 1990's 'Tales From The Twilight World,' this approach was perfected on 'Somewhere Far Beyond,' with the band evolving conceptually and Blind Guardian's sound spectrum becoming increasingly broad and bold. 'Somewhere Far Beyond' experimented with keyboards, orchestrations, and folk elements, the latter manifesting in the band's best-known song and live track "The Bard Song (In The Forest)," while other tracks such as "Ashes to Ashes," the fast-paced "Journey Through the Dark," or "The Quest For Tanelorn" followed previous, mostly fast-paced albums well but offered an additional boost of dynamism. Here's to 30 years! Before Blind Guardian released the acclaimed “The God Machine” in September 2022, they performed “Somewhere Far Beyond” at Rock Hard Festival and Hellfest in the summer of 2022 in front of tens of thousands of fans who sang along to every song word for word. Both shows were professionally filmed, recorded, and broadcast by WDR and ARTE. For the limited three-disc edition of 'Somewhere Far Beyond (Revisited),' the Hellfest footage has been re-edited with additional multicam footage by the band's long-time videographer, Dirk Behlau. The idea of re-recording the album came about during rehearsals for such shows, as Hansi Kürsch explains in the detailed liner notes: "The original idea was not to do a re-recording. When we were rehearsing for the anniversary shows, Corona hit and we couldn't be sure if these shows would even take place. We still wanted to celebrate the anniversary of the album, and if we couldn't record a live version, we initially thought we could at least record the rehearsals."
