BlackPink is a girl band from South Korea, drawing inspiration from pop, electro, and rap. Jisoo, Jennie, Lisa, and Rosé were discovered by Teddy Park (hit maker for 2NE1). With a dozen awards already to their name, the group has accumulated over 3.2 billion views on YouTube, thanks to extravagant and colorful music videos. It all started in August 2016 with "Boombayah" and "Whistle," which debuted at #1 and #2 on the Billboard World Digital Songs chart, respectively. On June 15, 2018, they released their first EP Square Up (#1 on iTunes in 44 countries) accompanied by the single "Ddu-du ddu-du," whose music video broke the record for K-Pop views in 24 hours (36 million views). The four girls have just signed with Interscope (Lady Gaga, Madonna) and are back with a new EP titled "Kill This Love." The album, available digitally since April 5, debuted at #1 on iTunes in 32 countries and #4 in France. The quartet will perform on May 26 at the Zénith in Paris. The concert sold out in a few hours, and the girl band's success is growing, along with their number of followers: 16.4 million on Instagram, 24.6 million on YouTube, surpassing Rihanna's follower count. Recently featured on the cover of Billboard Magazine in the US, BlackPink was the first K-Pop group to perform on the Coachella stage last weekend. "Kill This Love," the first single from this new EP, debuted at #1 on iTunes in 35 countries, #4 on Spotify, and the incredible music video broke the world record for views on YouTube in 24 hours, surpassing Ariana Grande and Psy.
