It’s the fifth anniversary of the classic album Hiding Places by Billy Woods and Kenny Segal. As time goes by and more works from the duo enter the canon, it’s easy to forget how unlikely a pair they were in 2019. Woods and Segal already had over a decade of experience under their belts, but neither had collaborated so deeply with artists outside their coastal scene. Then Hiding Places arrived and changed the trajectories of both artists, and of Backwoodz Studioz. Hiding Places plunges both artists into the heart of a labyrinth. Segal's lush soundscapes take on a new dimension, while Woods' writing is, paradoxically, the most direct. The album benefits from the contributions of the many collaborators of both artists, featuring appearances from ELUCID, Self-Jupiter, and MOTHERMARY. This anniversary reissue is the first to feature the iconic cover art from the label.
