"Treasures: Solo, Trio and Orchestra Recordings from Denmark (1965-1969)" is a collection of previously unreleased recordings by jazz piano icon Bill Evans, captured live in solo, trio, and orchestral settings in Denmark during the mid to late 1960s. Officially released by Elemental Music in collaboration with the Bill Evans estate, Treasures is a true discovery of the "Holy Grail," drawn from the private collection of Norwegian jazz musician Ole Matthiessen and published for the very first time as a limited edition 3 LP 180-gram box set (as well as a deluxe 2 CD box set and a digital edition). Highlights of the collection include trio concerts from 1965 featuring legendary Danish jazz bassist Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen, the only known solo piano version of Evans' "My Funny Valentine," a 1966 orchestral suite performed by Evans' trio accompanied by the Danish Radio Big Band led by trumpeter and arranger Palle Mikkelborg, and much more! The stunning triple gatefold box features previously unseen photos by Jan Persson taken during Evans' Danish tours, as well as explanatory notes by author, journalist, and Evans specialist Marc Myers, along with interviews and statements from Danish drummer Alex Riel, Danish music journalist, producer, and Evans discographer Peter Larsen, Palle Mikkelborg, Evans' longtime companions - bassist Eddie Gomez and drummer Marty Morell, and pianists Ran Blake and Matthew Shipp. Mastered for vinyl by legendary mastering engineer Bernie Grundman.
