New Jazz Conceptions was Bill Evans' first studio album recorded under his own name. However, by September 1956, at nearly 27 years old, he already had numerous studio recordings to his credit, as well as extensive stage experience. The album primarily features Evans in a trio format, but also includes three solo piano tracks, one of which is one of the very first recordings by Evans of his legendary composition "Waltz for Debby."
