Œuvres pour piano L'intégrale Volume 3 12 Rhapsodies Opus 1

Description

The Czech composer, organist, conductor, virtuoso pianist and teacher Jan Václav Vorísek, nicknamed “the prodigy of Prague,” settled in Vienna in 1813 at the age of twenty-two; he ardently wished to meet the great Beethoven, whom he deeply admired, and to show him his first opus, his Rhapsodies. Beethoven, who found the young man’s piano pieces promising, was to continue exerting an important influence on Vorísek’s artistic direction. It has in fact been said that the latter was one of the few musicians residing in Vienna at the time whose works invited comparison with Beethoven’s.
