The original limited edition release of her first single, "Flavour Of The Old School", in late 1994, created a real buzz on the streets, quickly becoming an essential swing anthem in the UK.Collaborating with soul virtuosos 2B3, British hip-hop pioneers Blak Twang, and other artists, the 1995 release of "The B-Funk" was hailed by the British black music press as the arrival of a distinctive voice and "the greatest British soul album of all time" (Echoes). Beverley subsequently won the R&B Artist of the Year award at the 1996 Black Music Awards.Since then, Knight has collaborated with artists as diverse as Take That and Prince, completed countless tours, and scored over a dozen Top 40 hits, transitioning from a street-level soul sensation to a staple of West End musicals. Meanwhile, The B-Funk has continued to gain popularity among R&B connoisseurs: the standout track "Mutual Feeling" was recently sampled in the 2025 US hit "Backd00r" by Playboi Carti and Kendrick Lamar.
