Douce France: Mélodies & Chansons
Description
He has long since conquered the world of opera, whether in "La rondine", "Les contes d'Hoffmann", "Werther" or "Roméo et Juliette", but Benjamin Bernheim also sparks just as much enthusiasm from his audience during his recitals. The French tenor now offers his first album of lieder with 19th-century melodies and 20th-century songs, accompanied on piano by his privileged partner Carrie-Ann Matheson. "Douce France" explores French romanticism through works by Berlioz, Chausson and Duparc, as well as classic songs by Brel, Kosma and Trenet. Aware of the nuances required by the famous melodies of Berlioz, Chausson and Duparc, Bernheim moves from one register to another playfully, with the same elegance and "flawless flexibility" recently recognized by the New York Times. The album closes with three pillars of French song: "Les feuilles mortes" by Joseph Kosma, "Douce France" by Charles Trenet and "Quand on n'a que l'amour" by Jacques Brel.Buy Douce France: Mélodies & Chansons at the best price
