Description

'Amo et Odi' is an album of songs steeped in blues and country. Nine months after Trust’s twelfth album, Bernie Bonvoisin, an indefatigable songwriter, always carrying a healthy anger, delivers his fifth solo album. While he relentlessly points the finger at the surrounding cynicism, the lack of empathy, or the absence of solidarity, he also opens up with restraint about his childhood and tells us — for the first time in a piano-vocal setting — the beautiful love story lived by his parents. The words remain harsh: “Because life is hard,” the voice becomes more intimate, sincerity shines through in every line, and Bernie Bonvoisin becomes an indispensable witness to our society past, present, and future, where Being will always be stronger than Having.
