Un hommage musical à Federico Garcia Lorca... the Andalusian nightingale... Musical tribute to one of the greatest poets of the 20th century, this record features works composed from his most beautiful texts, as well as some old Spanish folk songs harmonized by Garcia Lorca himself, poet but also musician. Halfway between folk music and classical music, this recording brings together some of Lorca's "Canciones españolas antiguas" (with their strong sense of place and their stories from the lost paradise of "Al Andalus") and, composed on his poems, the works of Manuel Oltra and the uprooted Sephardic Castelnuovo Tedesco, with his famous "Romancero Gitano op. 152," a rare piece for choir and guitar in honor of "Al Andalus." The guitar, the instrumental emblem of flamenco, is also very present with Manuel de Falla and the masterpiece - almost liturgical - of Joachin Rodrigo "the Invocation and Dance" in tribute to Manuel de Falla, master of Federico Garcia Lorca.
