Those who listened with a distracted ear to his album L'Homme Moderne (2010) may have had the false impression that Benjamin Paulin was just another nice singer with a side part and an optional suit. Benjamin was then dipping his pen in vitriol and "punchlining" in memory of his rap years with the group Puzzle. Today this second album - Deux - sounds like a new beginning. If he much prefers to cite references like Cioran, Albert Cohen, Céline, or Bukowski rather than songwriters, we discover him on this record truly as a singer, without losing his particular voice, deep but warm. One man played an important role in supporting this metamorphosis, it's Frédéric Lo, director notably of the two albums of the renaissance of Daniel Darc and later of the hit Pony Pony Run Run. Between 80s new wave pop and nervous electro-pop, the ten songs of Deux form a homogeneous set.
