Benjamin Francis Leftwich returns 5 years after his first album, Last Smoke Before The Snowstorm. The death of his father from lung cancer in April 2013 was the event that inspired the writing of this album, and it permeates the entire work. *After The Rain* is Benjamin making peace with himself. "Tilikum," which opens the album, was written in the living room facing Ben's father's old house and represents the true trigger for the creative process of *After The Rain*. Energy is a concept that nourishes everything Ben touches. From his lifelong passion for hip-hop to his obsession with playlists of his favorite songs, the color and vitality of this album could only come from a man completely devoted to music. From "Mayflies," a track built around a dark electronic sample, to "Some Other Arms," a disarming confession written during his stay in Sydney after a selfish breakup, Ben's horizons continue to broaden.
