The third opus from the unclassifiable Beck, "Mellow Gold" was released in 1994, at a time when the artist was experimenting with productions on tape recorders. After two completely unnoticed albums, it was with the iconic "Loser" that the young prodigy piqued the interest of producer Karl Stephenson.
The song quickly became an anthem of alternative sounds for young American Generation Xers. Considered today one of the greatest classics of the 90s, "Mellow Gold" continues to fascinate.
