“Assoluta” refers to those soprano voices that made the tragic heroines of the 19th century shine: powerful voices with a wide range, a warm and rich timbre, full in the lower register, agile and virtuosic in the upper register, and today almost extinct. Béatrice Uria Monzon is one of its rare representatives: here she performs the great roles of this tessitura with a program spanning the monuments of Italian opera. The first solo album by one of the great French lyric voices, forged on the world’s greatest stages, this recording is the culmination of a diva career carried out on stage, as close as possible to the audience. Béatrice Uria-Monzon is joined here by specialists in the Italian lyric repertoire, conductor Fabrizio Carminati and the Giuseppe Verdi Orchestra of Trieste, to recreate the warmth and emotion of live opera performance.
