Description

An intimate and moving reading of the Lisztian soul by pianist Beatrice Berrut. Liszt was able, both in his life and in his works, to make extremes coexist, the poles, and thereby awaken archetypes rooted in the human unconscious. Indeed, his music always represents a stylized struggle between Good and Evil, Light and Darkness. His writing, which can sometimes be described as Manichean, nevertheless explores all the torments and joys that a human soul can feel, and extends a thread that never breaks between these distant shores. Liszt's metanoia, his path to light and serenity, is a touching and liberating example of a man who embraced his consuming passions and sublimated them in a creative gesture.
