Music inspired by the British Isles, Rumon Gamba conducts the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra in the third installment of his exploration of British Isles overtures. As with the previous volumes, the recorded repertoire is rarely performed, and the album includes three world premiere recordings. All the works were composed over an eleven-year period, between 1938 and 1949, against the backdrop of the tragic global events of that time.
