This sensational Elemental Music release presents, for the very first time in this format, the exceptional and highly underrated soundtrack written, produced, and arranged by Barry White for the 1974 American film directed by William A. Graham, Together Brothers. Released by 20th Century Records the same year, the soundtrack album includes arrangements by the Love Unlimited Orchestra as well as vocals by Love Unlimited, the female vocal trio led by White’s wife, Glodean James. This album marked Barry White’s entry into the blaxploitation soundtrack genre. The record is packed with many tight little instrumental grooves, produced in the hard style of the Love Unlimited Orchestra — with tight funky drums low down, snapping snares in the middle, and high, sweeping strings on top. Love Unlimited sings on a few tracks, but the pieces are mostly instrumental with a very hard groove that would inspire many hip-hop artists in the years to come. Vocal tracks such as "Somebody's Gonna Off the Man", "People of Tomorrow Are the Children of Today" and "Can't Seem to Find Him" stand out among the instrumentals, although tracks such as "Alive and Well", "Theme from Together Brothers", "Do Drop In" and "Here Comes The Man" give the album a cohesive and superb listen.
