After the success of the recording dedicated to Veress and Bartók, which won two awards in 2020 from Gramophone and BBC Music Magazine, the Lockenhaus festival series, led by its artistic director Nicolas Altstaedt, continues its journey through Central Europe, featuring Antonín Dvořák and his famous "Dumky" trio, named after the Slavic folk songs typically performed by blind itinerant rhapsodists, who accompany themselves on the kobza or bandura (a twelve-string lute)... Dvořák, whose father played the zither, immerses himself in this music and becomes a translator-creator. The trio was composed in 1891 and, in light of its enthusiastic reception, Dvořák decided to perform it during his grand farewell tour before departing for the United States. The Duo for Violin and Cello by Zoltán Kodály (1914), which completes this program, also reflects the influence of traditional music.
