After Le masque de fer – Die eiserne Maske in autumn 2014, its successful release featuring French instrumental music centered around the most famous prisoner of the 17th century, the young Ensemble La Ninfea returns, this time with no fewer than two world premiere recordings, one for recorder and the other for viola da gamba. Barbara Heindlmeier and Ensemble Ninfea are part of the new generation of early music performers who, with great freshness of playing, are devoted to historical performance practice and continue to unearth forgotten gems, reviving them to perfection. Combined with the superb, warm sonority of the flauto dolce, the contagious virtuosity displayed by the ensemble brings out the wealth of detail in the sonatas of Signore A. H. Schulzen, a true find for the recorder repertoire. On this co-production of Raumklang with Radio Bremen, they are complemented by anonymous sonatas for viola da gamba, performed by Christian Heim and Marthe Perl.
