Altesques

Description

The album "ALTESQUES" was born from a "miraculous" meeting between Jon Gordon, Baptiste Herbin, Géraldine Laurent, and Pierrick Pédron. In fact, a meeting between Baptiste Herbin and Jon Gordon was already scheduled (at Bal Blomet). A few days before the concert, following a conversation with Baptiste Herbin, and two phone calls later, Géraldine Laurent and Pierrick Pédron were on board and available... and that's how the initial duo of altoists became a quartet of altoists! Presumed to take the form of an "old-fashioned chase," the meeting was not musically guaranteed. Baptiste Herbin then jots down some arrangements, and on the afternoon of the concert, the "sound-check" serves as a rehearsal. Bingo! The magic happens, the inspiration is mutual, well beyond stylistic differences. This "altesque conversation" is facilitated by the support of a brilliant rhythm section invested in the project, with Fred Nardin on piano, Mathias Allamane on double bass, and Francesco Ciniglio on drums.
