Description

This record brings together about thirty nursery rhymes, songs, and lullabies from the Slavic countries of Eastern Europe (Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Belarus, Czech Republic, Slovakia). To the sound of the balalaika by Nicolas Kedroff, the cymbalum, the accordion, or the violin, the record highlights songs of fabulous richness. It expresses, with melodies and words that are sometimes simple or refined, lyrical, joyful, or melancholic, a relationship to childhood of immense sensitivity. It features characters from fairy tales: Baba Yaga the witch, a sugar king in love with an almond paste princess, the gray wolf who will come to take away the little child who does not want to sleep, but also amusing animals: a little grasshopper and a greedy frog, a magpie, a nightingale, a rooster, mosquitoes.
