ARJEN LUCASSEN'S NEW SUPER PROJECT LIVE SHOW An Ayreon concert is always a spectacular event: a huge production with top-tier musicians creating a magnificent show, whose rarity makes them unique. In September 2023, Ayreon performed five shows of "01011001" in Tilburg, Netherlands. Ayreon mastermind Arjen Lucassen and keyboardist Joost van den Broek managed to bring together much of the original cast from the 01011001 studio album, along with many special guests, including Simone Simons (Epica) and Damian Wilson (Threshold), Anneke van Giersbergen, Jonas Renkse (Katatonia), Tom Englund (Evergrey), Daniel Gildenlow (Pain of Salvation), Marcela Bovio (MaYan), Brittney Slayes (Unleash the Archers), Hansi Kürsch (Blind Guardian), John Jaycee Cuijpers (Praying Mantis), Maggy Luyten (Beautiful Sin), Michael Mills (Toehider)... The band comprises the best instrumentalists in the genre: Ed Warby (drums), Johan van Stratum (bass), Timo Somers (guitar), Marcel Coenen (guitar), Joost Van Den Broek (keyboards), to name the main ones, and of course the enigmatic Arjen Lucassen.
