Avalanche Kaito is the exhilarating combination of urban griot Kaito Winse, born in Burkina Faso, and his experimental colleagues, Belgian guitarist Nico Gitto and French drummer/producer Benjamin Chaval. This transnational avant-rock trio made waves with their visceral debut album released in 2022, earning notable appearances at festivals (Supersonic, End of the Road), a session on KEXP, and well-deserved enthusiasm from critics and audiences alike. Their new album, Talitakum, is deeper and more sonically varied, revealing an energy and spiritual weight that have undoubtedly emerged from the band's relentless touring. The concerts are indeed revelatory, transforming with an unexpected intensity and cohesion. It’s a striking and shifting sound that freely transitions from ancient griot traditions to full-throttle thrash (with many stops in between).
