Since her eponymous album in 2004, the duo Autour de Lucie has moved forward with discreet but steady regularity, alternating long pauses and creative flashes. For over twenty years, the project's driving force has remained unchanged: energy, encounters, and inspiration. A rare constancy, faithful to the group's original spirit. This pop verve, this elegant melancholy frequently garroted, this lucidity have never left Autour de Lucie. But they still had to be sought out at the very heart. Today, the formation refocuses around the duo Valérie Leulliot, a singular voice and tutelary figure, and Sébastien Lafargue, multi-instrumentalist, arranger, and producer who, throughout these nine tracks, succeeds in creating a kind of dance step between guitar and voice, amidst an orchestration combining electronics, organic elements, and synthetic tools. With Hors Monde, the group's sixth opus, Autour de Lucie signs an album oscillating between introspection and observation of the world, between intimate fragilities and societal desolations. As its title indicates, Hors Monde evokes a lucid distancing, without withdrawal. It is an album both free and meticulous, fluid and supple, polished and aesthetic, which uses songwriting as a classical language and whose foundations of pop music blend with a contemporary veneer.
