AUTARKH III is a rock trio composed of Autarkh members David Luiten (vocals/guitars), Michel Nienhuis (vocals/guitars), and Tijnn Verbruggen (electronics). Its purpose is to represent an alternative timeline of Autarkh's first album, "Form In Motion," at the 2021 Roadburn Redux Festival.
"Form In Motion" moves from a confrontation with the limits of reality to a state of catharsis, autonomy, and independence through a process of growth and transformation, while AUTARKH III's timeline evolves in the opposite direction – but also occurs in the present in an attempt to counter the linearity of human perception of existence. The trio reinterpreted, rearranged, and inverted their existing work and added a new composition inspired by the collection of essays "Tijd Van Onbehagen" by Dutch philosopher Ad Verbrugge, which also contains nods to Nienhuis' former band, Dodecahedron.
